▲ During the week of Sept. 9-15, firefighters responded to 24 calls, including the following: three structure fires (commercial kitchen fire on Fair Road, residential kitchen fire on Lanier Drive, outside storage shed on Hendrix Circle); one vehicle fire, one dumpster fire, two brush/grass fires, one smoke scare and one miscellaneous fire.

▲ Also, seven fire alarms, an acid spill on Akins Boulevard, a natural gas leak on Olliff Street, an extrication of a person from a building and police assist.

▲ Firefighters also attended Bulloch Night Out Against Crime and performed two fire safety talks/show-and-tell events.

▲ Register — three false alarms, three agency assists with Statesboro Fire.

▲ Brooklet — one agency assist with Statesboro Fire.

▲ Last week officers issued one citation for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, one citation for no license on person, eight citations for speeding, two citations for failure to maintain lane, one citation for failure to stop at a stop sign, one citation for unlawful use of wireless device.

➤ Portal Police Department

▲ For the week of Sept. 13-19, Portal Police Officers responded to 14 general calls for service, issued 12 traffic citations and 15 warnings, performed several business checks and school safety checks, assisted 2 motorists.

▲ EAST WILLOW LAKE DRIVE — Officers responded to a simple battery/family violence incident.

▲ ENZONE WINGS — Someone reported the theft of a firearm.

▲ METTER PHARMACY — Someone reported being assaulted in the parking lot.

▲ HODGES STREET — A domestic dispute resulted in the arrest of a person in simple battery/family violence charges.

▲ METTER FARM MARKET — Police are investigating a burglary.

▲ PARRISH ROAD — Someone reported a case of first-degree child cruelty.
