Police Report, 8-16-16: A complainant said someone intentionally created a fire to damage a home.

Statesboro Police Department

VETERANS MEMORIAL PARKWAY - The driver of a Ford Expedition reported that the driver of a distribution company box truck was driving aggressively and swerved into his lane to prevent him from passing. When the vehicles stopped at a red light, a passenger got out of the box truck and approached the Expedition with a large stick, the complaining driver told the investigating officer. Police arrested the box truck driver and passenger and applied for warrants.
MULBERRY STREET - Officers responded to a report than a pregnant woman was the victim in a "simple battery" incident.
BERMUDA RUN - Someone reported that an unknown person or persons intentionally created a fire to damage a home. An electric stove was involved, according to the incident report.
STATESBORO PLACE CIRCLE - The owner of a Honda Accord reported that someone entered the unlocked vehicle and stole items including a handgun, a laptop computer and a cellphone, together valued at $1,900.
HIGHWAY 67 - The owner of a Jeep Wrangler reported that someone stole a 50-inch LED light bar from the vehicle while it was in a parking area. Police noted that the wire had been cut.

Georgia Southern University Police
Officers issued seven citations and 25 warnings and assisted 16 motorists.

GEORGIA STATE PATROL POST 45
Troopers investigated 15 crashes with six reported injuries last week, Aug. 8-14. They also made four DUI arrests and issued a total of 39 citations, with seven citations and four warnings for seat belt violations, one citation for a child restraint violation, and 12 citations and 30 warnings for speeding.
