Dogs /cats euthanized at animal shelter — six adult dogs and nine puppies (12 sick, injured; three feral); an adult cat and five kittens (upper respiratory illness/no rescue).

▲ During the week of July 15-21, firefighters responded to 21 calls, including the following: automatic aid with Bulloch Fire with a structure fire on Mike Brannen Road; cooking fire with light damage on Lanier Drive. Two brush fires, one vehicle fire, two illegal burning, one electrical issue, one smoke scare.

▲ Also, nine fire alarms, one vehicle accident and two fire station tours.

▲ Between July 17-25, firefighters responded to the following calls:

▲ Portal — agency assist Statesboro Fire with a structure fire.

▲ Register — one fire alarm, one power line down, one agency assist with Statesboro Fire with a structure fire, one road debris removal.  

▲ Nevils — one vehicle fire. 

▲ Bay District — three vehicle fires. 

▲ Stilson — two alarm calls.   

▲ Brooklet — no calls.

▲ Leefield — no calls. 

▲ Clito — one alarm call.

▲ During the week of July 19-25, officers responded to one report of public intoxication and issued the following: five speeding citations, one citation for permitting an unlicensed person to drive, one citation for learner’s permit violation and one citation for passing in a no passing zone.

▲ SOUTH KENNEDY STREET — Someone reported a theft and suspicious activity at the public library.

▲ ELLIS STREET — Officers responded to a domestic dispute.

▲ NORTH LEWIS STREET — Someone reported a criminal trespass incident.

▲ METTER POLICE DEPARTMENT — An “emotional” woman stopped en route from Tennessee to Florida. After getting directions, she left to continue her trip.

▲ WINDSOR APARTMENTS — Someone reported a simple battery incident.

▲ BOSTON STREET — Police met someone at the fire department regarding information about a juvenile. The call was listed as child molestation.

▲ NORTH KENNEDY STREET — Someone reported a criminal trespass incident.

▲ LAKEVIEW DRIVE — Candler sheriff’s deputies requested officers to assist with a domestic dispute involving an aggravated assault.

▲ NORTH LEWIS STREET — Someone reported a theft.

▲ AMERICAN INN — Police responded to a reported domestic dispute.

▲ WEST LEE STREET — A woman reported a suspicious incident and stolen vehicle.

▲ EAST LILLIAN STREET — Officers responded to a reported fight.
