Police report, 6/19/19
A man set off the alarm to a woman’s car, and then took a baseball bat to another man’s car, shattering the window. Warrants were taken out for the offender, and the male victim was arrested on outstanding warrants.

▲ PARKWOOD RV PARK — Someone reported a vehicle break-in.

▲ FRED BLITCH ROAD — A woman said she was on her computer searching the web when a pop-up appeared, claiming to be from Microsoft and sounding an alarm. It warned her not to turn off her computer, and to call a number to unlock the computer. She called the number and someone told her the computer had been infected with a virus and Microsoft needed to access her computer to repair the damage. She allowed the log-in, but when given a second number to call to complete the repair, she suspected a scam and switched the computer off before taking it to someone else for a virus scan. The woman reported the incident on case of further hacking and so others might be warned, she said.

▲ EAST GEORGIA REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER — Deputies met with a young girl and her mother after the girl cut herself intentionally on the arm in an attempt to avoid going to her father’s house. She said she did not want to die, but she did not want to go to his house because she feared he would hurt her over not going to see him on Father’s Day and making a comment on social media. She also said her father got drunk and hurt her brother. Deputies did not release the girl to her father and informed him he had to speak to a judge regarding shared custody or visitation, due to the girl’s allegations.

▲ BRANNEN STREET — Officers responded to a welfare check request and spoke to a woman who had recently miscarried and just broke up with her boyfriend. Sher denied medical treatment.

▲ STAMBUK LANE — A woman said her estranged husband took out a life insurance policy on her without her permission.

▲ LANIER DRIVE — A woman said a man put his arms around her and tried to kiss her. Officers gave her information on seeking warrants.
