➤ Statesboro Fire Department

▲ From April 29-May 5, firefighters responded to a total of 21 calls including five fire calls (Morris Street — cooking fire in microwave; automatic aid with Bulloch Fire — structure fire on Brooklet-Denmark Road; Westbrooke Condominiums, heavy involvement, two story multi-family, several units damaged; automatic aid with Bulloch Fire on Broomstraw Trace; one dumpster fire.

▲ Also, firefighters responded to 11 alarms and a vehicle crash on Veterans Memorial Parkway at Brannen Street.

▲ Public events included ”Healthy Kids Day” at the YMCA, Nevils Elementary Career Day, a station tour and assisting a motorist with a tire change.


➤ Bulloch County Fire Department

▲ Between May 3-10, firefighters responded to the following calls:

▲ Portal — one rescue call, one agency assist with Statesboro Fire regarding a structure fire.

▲ Register — three alarm calls and two rescue calls.

▲ Nevils — two rescue calls.

▲ Bay District — one woods/grass fire.

▲ Stilson — two woods/grass fires.

▲ Brooklet — one alarm call, one agency assist with Statesboro Fire regarding a structure fire.

▲ Leefield — no calls.

▲ Clito — one alarm call.


➤ Brooklet Police Department

▲ Officers issued the following citations April 27-May 3: three for speeding.

▲ Officers also filed reports regarding an unruly juvenile and property damage.

 

➤ Candler County Sheriff’s Department

▲ HULSEY DRIVE — Someone reported a criminal trespass incident involving public intoxication, obstruction and disorderly conduct.

▲ TRAIL’S END ROAD — Deputies investigated a reported burglary and criminal trespass.

In another case, someone was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

▲ HIGHWAY 46 — Deputies responded to an aggravated assault where an offender was charged with possession of a firearm during commission a crime and by a convicted felon, as well as theft by receiving stolen property.

▲ DOGWOOD DRIVE — Someone reported animal cruelty.

▲ SAM’S CREEK CHURCH ROAD — Someone reported a theft.

▲ KEMP ROAD — Deputies responded to a criminal trespass complaint.


➤ Register Police Department

▲ Officers issued the following citations last week:  one for no license on person, three for speeding; one for holding  a cell phone while driving; five for stop sign violations; one for taillight violation; one for window tint violation; two for seat belt violations.


➤ Metter Police Department

➤ Portal Police Department

▲ Between May 2-9, officers responded to 10 calls for service; issued seven traffic citations; issued no warnings; and conducted several routine school and business safety checks.

▲ Animals received from rural areas — 18 adult dogs, one puppy, four adult cats, 14 kittens.

▲ Animals received from City of Statesboro — four adult dogs and a puppy.

▲ Adopted from shelter — nine adults dogs, two adult cats and two kittens.

▲ Taken by rescue organizations — no animals.

▲ Reclaimed by owners — three adult dogs.

▲ Died at shelter — one kitten.
