Police report - 11-19-14; A woman said someone threw toilet paper in the trees in her front yard.

STATESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT
Incidents
    SOUTH ZETTEROWER AVENUE — A co-owner of a business told police at 9:22 a.m. Thursday that he used “a friend of a friend” to complete his 2013 income tax returns. He learned that the wrong banking account was placed on the return, meaning someone else received his refund, and he has been unable to make contact with the person who completed his taxes.
    EAST MAIN STREET — A man told police that shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, as he was driving on the street, a chainsaw valued at $400 fell off his trailer and onto the street. He said he turned his truck around to retrieve the chainsaw, but he was unable to find it.
    VERIZON WIRELESS — (Buckhead Drive) A man told police at 2:16 p.m. Friday that a store employee advised him that someone used his Social Security number to open an account in his name.
    BLAKEWOOD APARTMENTS — Police met with Statesboro firefighters at 4:30 p.m. Friday in reference to a couch that had been burned behind an apartment. The owner of the couch returned while officers and firefighters were at the scene, and she told them she had moved it outside earlier that day because she was moving.
    HARDEN ROAD — Police responded to a residence at 7:58 p.m. Friday in reference to a domestic dispute. A woman said she and her live-in boyfriend were arguing, and the dispute turned physical. No other details were given about the dispute; however, an incident report lists “knife/cutting tool” under “weapon type,” and the woman’s arrest information listed her as the one with the knife. Both the man and woman were arrested.
    BELK — Police responded at 10:10 p.m. Friday in reference to shoplifting. A store employee said a woman selected 20 clothing items with a total value of $592, two jewelry items with a total value of $52, and eight “miscellaneous” items with a total value of $158, and tried to leave without paying. The woman was arrested.
    CLUB 125 — Police responded at 12:04 a.m. Saturday in reference to a drunk person who wouldn’t leave. On arrival, an officer made contact with a man who was “highly intoxicated and trying to fight employees of the establishment.” The man was arrested.
    In a separate incident, a woman told police that between 12:30 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. Sunday someone entered her vehicle and stole a GPS unit valued at $100, a scarf, a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at $155, a phone charger, pepper spray, a cosmetic bag, a purse, a jacket, a pouch, a travel bag, and a pair of prescription eyeglasses valued at $100. There was no sign of forced entry.
    WAFFLE HOUSE — (Northside Drive East) A restaurant employee told police at 1:46 p.m. Saturday that three women left before paying for their meals, with a total value of $22. The women were later found in an apartment complex and arrested.
    PINERIDGE TOWNHOMES — A woman told police at 8:42 p.m. Saturday that as she was walking home, a man on a bicycle robbed her at knifepoint of her white Michael Kors purse valued at $100 and a blue Apple iPod valued at $70.
    MORRIS HEIGHTS APARTMENTS — Police responded at 5:08 a.m. Sunday in reference to the report of gunshots. After an investigation, two bullets were recovered from the scene. No further information was provided in the incident report. During the investigation, it was determined that one of the residents had an active arrest warrant for first-degree burglary. He was arrested.
    BURGER KING — An employee told police at 9:01 p.m. Sunday that a man who ordered food using the drive-thru argued with the cashier about how much money he had given her. When a manager spoke with the man, the man began making threats and then left in an unknown direction.
    THE COVE AT SOUTHERN — Police responded at 9:33 p.m. Sunday in reference to arson. On arrival, an officer saw a women’s purse and its contents burning in the parking lot. A wallet was found nearby, but police were unable to contact its owner.
BULLOCH COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Arrests
    Aldrin Diaz Gomez, 28, Newton’s Mobile Home Park — battery (family violence).
    Ian Wesley Grover, 25, Marvin Avenue — sale of marijuana, unlawful use of communication facilities, sale of schedule II controlled substance, possession and use of drug-related object.
    Brandon Jerome Holmes, 22, Pike Road — fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, headlight requirements, possession of cocaine, false report of a crime, probation violation.
    Olaudah Valeon McKenzie, 36, Travon Way, Claxton — first-degree burglary.

Incidents
    CHESTNUT OAK LANE — A woman told deputies that between 9:30 p.m. and midnight Friday, someone threw toilet paper throughout the trees in her front yard, and a piece of mail was ripped in half and left on the ground by her mailbox.
    WESTSIDE ROAD — (Portal) A woman told deputies that while she was at church, between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sunday, someone broke into her home and stole a 42-inch LCD television. When the woman came home, she saw the front door was cracked open and the glass was shattered. She called 911 and deputies searched the home to ensure no one was inside before she entered.
    IVANHOE CLUBHOUSE ROAD — (Brooklet) A woman reported receiving harassing phone calls Sunday evening. In the first call, at 8:30 p.m., the caller asked if the woman had any wood for sale because he wanted to use it for sexual purposes, then asked if she had any animals he could use for sexual purposes. Five minutes later, the man called back, identified himself as a “deputy” from the “Statesboro Police Department” and wanted to know “how long before the order for the wood would be shipped out.”
    NEWTON’S MOBILE HOME PARK — A woman told deputies at 11:50 p.m. Sunday that her boyfriend punched her in the face during an argument, causing a scratch to her neck. The man, who had fled before deputies arrived, returned while deputies were interviewing the victim. He was arrested.

Arrests
    Jeremiah Thomas Lipinksi, 21, U.S. Highway 301 North, Claxton — DUI, failure to maintain lane, seat-belt violation.
    Matheaw Area Swenson, 37, Shelly Rentz Road, Hazlehurst — DUI (less safe), failure to maintain lane.
    Bradley Allen Reid, 25, Canary Circle, Soperton — DUI, failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce).
    Ansley Marie Bennett, 25, Ogeechee Drive East — DUI, failure to maintain lane.

Incidents
    Troopers investigated 39 crashes with one fatality and nine injuries; made two arrests for DUI; and issued two seat-belt citations, two speeding citations and 17 total citations.
    Troopers also issued four seat-belt warnings, 20 speeding warnings and 59 total warnings.

GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY POLICE
Arrests
    Christopher William Dunaway, 20, Tugalo Trail, Douglasville, Ga. — possession of alcohol by underage person.

Incidents
    Officers issued two traffic citations and one traffic warning and assisted nine motorists Friday through Sunday.
    KENNEDY HALL — Police responded to the parking lot at 3:18 p.m. Nov. 6 in reference to a drug complaint. A call received through Bulloch Central 911 indicated that the occupants inside a car parked in the lot were smoking marijuana. Officers found the car empty on arrival, but they saw a cigar pack on the passenger seat and found that the car smelled strongly of burnt marijuana. They found the vehicle owner in a dorm room. A search of the unit revealed suspected marijuana on the living room floor. Two people living in the unit was judicially referred to university officials for punishment, but they were not arrested.
    EAGLE VILLAGE — Officers on patrol heard loud music coming from an apartment at 10:22 p.m. Nov. 6. Once allowed inside, police discovered 10 people inside, along with several containers of alcohol, including liquor. The 10 people were judicially referred to university officials for punishment, but they were not arrested.
    LAKESIDE CAFÉ — Police responded to the report of a possibly intoxicated subject at 7:36 a.m. Wednesday. On officers’ arrival, the café manager pointed out a man whose head was bent down almost into his plate of food. When an officer approached, he noted that the man was wearing soiled clothes, had food smeared across his hands and smelled of alcohol and urine. The man admitted he had been drinking and had taken Adderal and Xanax. He registered 0.137 percent blood alcohol content on a breath test and was arrested.
    J LOT — An officer on bicycle patrol at 1:18 a.m. Thursday saw a parked car with a crude, obscene drawing and words drawn into the condensation on the rear glass. The design and message were similar to that which had been etched onto the trunk of a black car in F Lot sometime earlier. There was no visible damage to the car in J Lot.
