Police report, 10/1/19
A woman said she is being harassed by a scam caller claiming her Microsoft security plan has lapsed, and that she has viruses in her computer. The caller asked that she pay $300 to correct the issue.

▲ BERMUDA RUN APARTMENTS — Officers responded to a verbal dispute between roommates.

▲ HIGHWAY 301 NORTH — A woman called police when her boyfriend became angry over food she prepared. The man was not at the scene when officers arrived.

▲ GRADY JOHNSON ROAD — A man was arrested after a woman reported he assaulted her. Police stated in reports the victim showed visible injuries.

▲ PACKINGHOUSE ROAD — A woman said her child’s father bit her on the hand during a dispute that became physical.

▲ BELK — A person who shoplifted $20 worth of clothes was cited and released.

In a separate incident, a juvenile shoplifted a $22 tee shirt. Officers notified the Department of Juvenile Justice and turned the juvenile over to guardians.

▲ SOUTH MAIN STREET — A woman reported being followed on several occasions by an unknown man.

▲ SAVANNAH AVENUE — A man reported receiving harassing text messages from another person.

▲ MYRTLE CROSSING — A woman said someone she allowed to use her vehicle installed a Verizon Hum device without her permission.

▲ COLEY BOYD ROAD — Deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute. Someone reported seeing a driver strike a woman passenger in a black Kia SUV.

▲ BRITTANY LANE — A woman said she is being harassed by a scam caller claiming her Microsoft security plan has lapsed, and that she has viruses in her computer. The caller asked that she pay $300 to correct the issue. After the complainant told the caller she has contacted law enforcement, the calls continue, she said.

▲ RAILROAD BED ROAD — Deputies responded to assist Brooklet police regarding a naked woman. The woman cursed at deputies, threw a bottle of water at them, and refused to get out of the back of a patrol car so deputies could handcuff her. They removed her from the car, “helped” her to the ground on her stomach and handcuffed her before taking her to jail on charges of disorderly conduct.

▲ BANKS DAIRY ROAD — A woman said a friend who had been watching her two dogs will not respond to efforts to get the dogs back.

▲ JOSH DEAL ROAD — A man who was reportedly “acting out” was transported to a hospital for treatment.

▲ WESTSIDE ROAD — A man was reportedly shot in the leg by an unknown person as he stood on a porch.  The case is under investigation.

In a separate incident, a vehicle stolen from Swainsboro was recovered, having been abandoned.

▲ BURKHALTER ROAD — Deputies responding to reports of drag racing and a large party arrested a man for refusing to provide identification and resisting arrest.

▲ PIONEER TRAIL — A man reported a burglary and motor vehicle theft.

▲ Friday through Sunday, officers issued 14 traffic citations and three traffic warnings and six assisted motorists.

▲ SOUTHERN PINES —Someone reported a suspicious person.

▲ EAGLE VILLAGE — Officers investigated a theft. In a separate call police responded to a theft by deception and deposit account fraud report.

▲ SOUTHERN COURTYARD — Officers investigated reports of a suspicious person or activity.

▲ PAULSON STADIUM — Officers responded to a request for K9 assistance, found property, theft, a sick person call, a verbal dispute and an intoxicated person.

▲ MALECKI DRIVE — A student was judicially referred to university authorities, but not charged, over an alcohol violation.
