A search warrant at a Lanier Drive apartment Thursday resulted in Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team investigators making 28 arrests for drug charges. After receiving information about drug sales from the apartment, investigators served the warrant and found evidence leading to the arrest of tenant, Jeffrey Zane Strickland, 19, Lanier Drive, charged with three counts of sale of marijuana, three counts of unlawful use of communications facilities, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.Marijuana and a firearm were recovered during the search, and information discovered during the incident led to a “reverse sting” where people who came to the apartment to buy marijuana also were arrested, he said.“This reverse sting continued throughout the night, resulting in the arrest of a total of 28 defendants,” he said.Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Jail Division deputies helped transport the suspects to the Bulloch County Jail.“The purpose of this operation was twofold,” Anderson said. “One was to interrupt drug sales from this location, an activity which often leads to more serious crimes such as home invasions for the purpose of stealing drugs from such locations. The other was to send a message to purchasers about the hidden dangers of participating in the drug trade.”Investigators spoke with the defendants after their arrest about how drug sales impact the apartments and other areas of student housing in which they live, he said.In addition to Strickland, the following were arrested during the sting: Billy Vance Jernigan, 19, Bethany Creek Court, Alpharetta – marijuana possession; Lea Martin Cockfield, 20, Black Shoals Road, Conyers – marijuana possession, criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Trince Deon Degraffinreaidt Jr., 19, Garden City Drive, Lithonia – marijuana possession, criminal attempt to purchase marijuana. Also, Austin Blake Flachbarth, 22, Burkhalter Road – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Lucas James Haley, 19, Georgia Avenue – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Baker Alexander Hendrix, 20, Olympic Boulevard – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; William Tyler Martin, 21, Timber Creek Lane, Acworth – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Anthony Louis Terreza IV, 19, Red Hawk Way, Dallas – marijuana possession. Also, Kalein Preston Watford, 21, Etching Overlook, Alpharetta – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana, marijuana possession; Matthew Douglas Whelan, 20, Georgia Avenue – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana, possession of marijuana; Avery Carson Adams, 20, Woodland Trace, Woodstock – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Mitchell Schofield Aycock, 21, Booster Bolevard – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Joseph Gardner Beach, 20, Old College Street, Sandy Springs – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Robert Allan Craver, 21, Booster Boulevrd – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana.Others arrested were: Robert Eric Denty III, 19, South Wayne Street, Jesup – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Kyle Ray Gonsowski, 20, University Village – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Joseph Domald Hindsley, 20, Hwy. 67 – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Mitchell Wheeler Lancaster, 21, Hawthorne Road – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; William Spencer Lawson, 20, Madeira Court – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Cameron Jake Mead, 19, Centennial Place – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Katelynn Leigh Offenhauer, 21, Autumn Maple Drive, Braselton – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Karley Rose Pelky, 19, Grand Park Drive, Jacksonville – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana. Also, Amberly Nicole Porter, 20, Cartertown Road, Richmond Hill – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Michael James Reddaway, 19, Temant Lane, Suwannee – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Michael Stephen Reinsel, 19, Centennial Place – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana; Christopher Knox Ruff, 20, Georgia Avenue – marijuana possession, and Wyatt Stone Whitaker, 19, Centennial Place – criminal attempt to purchase marijuana.Holli Deal Bragg may be reached at (912) 489-9414.
