Police report, 7/9/19
A man said a neighbor knocked over property that was on his side of the shared porch and threatened him with a stick. The neighbor said his dog knocked over the property and that he was trying to use the stick to hang some deer antlers.

➤ Statesboro Police Department

▲ PINE STREET — A woman said someone hit her in the face while she was at a party. There were no visible injuries.

▲ WAL-MART SUPERCENTER — A person was cited for shoplifting a pair of $10 shoes.

In a separate case, the warrant procedure was explained after someone shoplifted $340 in clothing, office equipment and other merchandise.

In a third call, a felony case, someone switched prices on a wireless router ($229), a portable welding machine ($109), an undisclosed item valued at $297 and other smaller items.

▲ CHANDLER ROAD — A man smelling of alcohol and screaming profanities refused to obey orders to leave and was arrested on public intoxication charges as well as simple battery against a police officer.

▲ NORTH COLLEGE STREET — Two people treated at the hospital for injuries sustained in a fight with each other were given information on seeking warrants.

▲ PINEWOOD MANOR APARTMENTS — Officers responded to a reported domestic dispute. A man involved left the scene.

▲ FLASH FOODS/FAIR ROAD — Someone left the store without paying for several cases of beer.


➤ Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office 

▲ BURKHALTER MOBILE HOME PARK — A man was arrested after deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance. He was charged with simple battery/family violence.

In a separate call, a woman said her landlord forced her way inside her home against protests from the resident’s son, sat down and demanded money. The complainant said the landlord refuses to renew her lease, which ended in February, and the air conditioner does not work.

▲ PARKVIEW APARTMENTS — A man said a neighbor knocked over property that was on his side of the shared porch and threatened him with a stick. ▲ R.P. MILLER ROAD — A woman reported the theft of a four-wheeler (ATV).

▲ TANYA’S LANE — A man was arrested after deputies met with a woman at the hospital who showed visible facial bruising after a domestic dispute.

▲ SHUMAN ROAD — A person was arrested on simple battery and assault charges after a domestic dispute.

▲ AKINS CIRCLE —Someone reported theft by taking, entering auto and theft of firearms.

▲ DODD CIRCLE — Deputies responded to and investigated a report of assault.

▲ HIGHWAY 67 — Deputies responded to a reported fight between two people in a vehicle. A third person separated the two and left one at the scene.

▲ BIG BAY BOULEVARD — Two people argued over a text, and the fact that one woman did not want her children around the other person’s acquaintances.

▲ EAGLE TRACE MOBILE HOME PARK — A man was arrested on battery charges (repeat offender) and third-degree child cruelty.


➤ Georgia State Patrol Post 45

▲ Last week, troopers responded to 20 crashes with 15 reported injuries. 

▲ Troopers arrested seven drivers on DUI charges and issued 22 citations and seven warnings for seatbelt violations, five citations for child restraint violations, and 62 citations and 76 warnings for speeding.


➤ Georgia Southern University Police 

▲ Thursday, officers issued two traffic citations and two traffic warnings and assisted two motorists. Citations and warnings reports were unavailable for Friday through Sunday.

▲ RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY CENTER — Someone reported a suspicious person.

▲ FREEDOM’S LANDING — Officers responded to a harassing communications complaint.

In a separate call, someone was judicially referred to university authorities for an alcohol violation.
