▲ Haley Morgan McCant, 22, Montrose — felony probation violation.

▲ Between May 27 and June 2, firefighters responded to 25 calls including:

▲ Three structure fires (Westover Drive, storage shed destroyed and house damaged, one minor injury;  Mallard Pond Road, agency assist with Bulloch Fire, kitchen fire; and agency assist with Bulloch Fire on Deloach Church Road. 

▲ Three grass/brush fires, two vehicle fires, two miscellaneous fires.

▲ Six fire alarms and two smoke /electrical scares; one EMS assist and one special rescue; one public education event.

▲ For the week of May 30-June 6, firefighters responded to the following calls:

▲ Portal — one agency assist with Bulloch EMS, two brush/grass fires, one structure fire.

▲ Register — two brush/grass fires, one vehicle fire, one agency assist/ structure fire, one agency assist with Statesboro Fire.

▲ Nevils — two brush/grass fires, one vehicle fire, one structure fire.

▲ Bay District — three brush/grass fires, one agency assist structure fire.

▲ Stilson — two brush/grass fires.

▲ Brooklet — two brush/grass fires, one vehicle fire.

▲ Leefield — three brush/grass fires.

▲ Clito — two brush/grass fires.


➤ Brooklet Police Department

▲ Last week, officers responded to two civil matter calls, one identity theft call, one criminal trespass call and a call regarding property damage.

▲ Citations issued: one for speeding, one for unlawful use of a wireless device while driving.

▲ Officers issued the following citations last week: one for speeding, one for wearing item that obscures vision.


➤ Portal Police Department

▲ For the week of May 30-June 6, officers issued 12 traffic citations, issued nine warnings, unlocked three vehicles, assisted two motorists, and performed a number of business checks.


➤ Metter Police Department

▲ ALINE AVENUE — Officers responded to a vehicle fire where a person suffered injury.

▲ PARRISH STREET — An officer responded to a domestic dispute where one person wanted another evicted. They were given information on available solutions.

▲ SOUTH LEWIS STREET — Police responded to a report of fraud, elder abuse, forgery and executing fictitious checks.

▲ DANIEL STREET — Someone reported a dispute between neighbors.

▲ FIRESIDE INN — Police responded to a reported theft by robbery and false report of a crime.

▲ HIGHWAY 121 —Someone reported a case of aggravated stalking.

▲ MORGAN ROAD — Deputies responded to a report of second-degree child cruelty.

▲ HIGHWAY 46 — Someone reported receiving harassing phone calls.

▲ HENSLEY ROAD — Officers responded to a simple assault call.

▲ DIANNE LANE — Someone reported criminal trespass and terroristic threats.

▲ STONEY ROAD — Deputies responded to a report of transmitting obscene materials to minors.

▲ GRIFFIN FERRY ROAD — Someone reported a case of criminal trespass.

▲ ADAMSON ROAD — Someone reported dogs at large.


➤ Bulloch County Animal Shelter

▲ Animals received from rural areas — 13 adult dogs, one adult cat and five kittens.

▲ Animals received from City of Statesboro — four adult dogs, one adult cat and one kitten.

▲ Adopted from shelter — two adult dogs and two kittens.

▲ Taken by rescue organizations — eight adult dogs and four puppies.

▲ Reclaimed by owners — two adult dogs.

▲ Died at shelter — three puppies.
