➤ Statesboro Fire Department

▲ During the week of June 17-23, firefighters responded to 22 calls, including: a lightning strike (no fire); overheated motor (no fire); brush/grass fire caused by a downed power line; and a controlled burn.

▲ Also, 17 alarms (14 fire alarms, two smoke scares, one smoke removal); and one safety event at Georgia Southern University.

▲ ELMER STREET — Officers responded to a reported assault/battery.

▲ BUTCHER BARN — Someone reported a person making threats.

▲ METTER WELCOME CENTER — An unwanted person was served with a criminal trespass warning.

▲ NORTH TRAPNELL STREET — Someone reported undisclosed items missing.

▲ AZALEA STREET — Officers responded to a reported theft.

▲ THE SPOT — Someone reported a battery incident.

▲ MARCUS STREET —Police are investigating an aggravated assault.

▲ JILL STREET — A man was arrested on simple battery charges.

▲ WASHINGTON STREET — Someone reported theft of a gun.

▲ WINDSOR APARTMENTS — Police responded to reports of theft by taking a firearm and other items.

▲ NORTH TERRELL STREET — Officers were called to handle a domestic dispute.

▲ METTER POLICE STATION — An animal rights advocate dropped a carrier with two kittens and a cat off at the police station and left them in the lobby while an officer went to speak to the police chief about the matter. Reports stated charges are pending against the woman.

▲ HULSEY DRIVE — Someone reported a theft by taking incident.

▲ LAKEVIEW DRIVE — Deputies responded to a reported theft.

▲ WEST ROAD — Someone reported a theft by deception.

▲ HIGHWAY 57 — Deputies responded to a call regarding public indecency.

▲ ST. MATTHEWS CHURCH ROAD — Someone reportedly violated a restraining order.

▲ DUTCH FORD ROAD — Deputies responded to a reported simple battery incident.

▲ Animals received from rural areas — 17 adult dogs and seven puppies; six adult cats and 19 kittens.
