Police report -2-19-17; Euthanized at animal shelter five dogs and nine cats

Candler County Sheriff’s Department
    COOL SPRINGS CHURCH ROAD — Deputies responded to a case of reported identity fraud.
    EAST HIAWAHA STREET — Someone reported a vehicle stolen.
    HIGHWAY 23 — Investigators responded to a reported burglary.
    TOBACCO ROAD — Someone reported a theft.
    HIGHWAY 46 — Deputies investigated reports of cruelty to animals as well as to persons 65 or older. A man was arrested on both charges.

    Surrendered by citizens — nine dogs and three cats from rural areas; four dogs and one cat from City of Statesboro.
    Collected by humane officers — nine dogs and nine cats from rural areas; three dogs and six cats from City of Statesboro.
    Adopted from shelter — 10 dogs and two cats.
    Taken in by rescue organizations — three adult dogs and five puppies.
    Reclaimed by owners —four dogs.
    Died at shelter — no animals.
    Euthanized — five dogs (three aggressive, wild or will bite; one medical reasons, one personal surrender for euthanasia only) and nine cats (feral).
    Fees collected — $800.
