A man was killed early Thursday morning when a truck in which he was a passenger struck a culvert. The driver of the vehicle remains in critical condition, according to Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch.
Around 2:16 a.m. Thursday, William Harry Waters, 50, Lee Road, Pembroke, was driving on Ga. 119 heading south when he lost control of his 1986 Ford Ranger, left the roadway, and struck a driveway culvert, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.
Waters was critically injured and transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Futch said.  However, Randy Lamar Luke Sr., 55, of Guyton, was killed in the crash.
Reports state Waters' truck came to rest in the south shoulder of the road after impact. The crash investigation was turned over to the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) for further review.
Futch said Luke had very recently experienced the loss of his father, whose funeral is slated for Saturday.
