Mr. and Mrs. Alva Joseph Hopkins III of Folkston, Ga., announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Melissa Ann Hopkins, to Ronald Gregory “Greg” Johnson Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gregory Johnson of Swainsboro.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jewell Mizell Kopp of St. Simons Island, Ga., and the late Alva Joseph Hopkins Jr. and the late John G. Kopp and Carolyn Beasley Peavy of Waycross and the late J. Edwin Peavy. Miss Hopkins is a graduate of Charlton County High School and Georgia Southern University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations, and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is currently working on her master’s degree in school counseling at Georgia Southern University and will graduate in May 2008.
Mr. Johnson is the grandson of Blonnie Womack Johnson of Canoochee, Ga., and the late G.W. Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Clay of Twin City. He is a graduate of David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore, Ga., and Georgia Southern University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics with an emphasis in international trade and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He is currently employed by Coldwell Banker/Tanner Realty as a real estate agent in Statesboro.
The couple will wed March 15, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. at The Folkston United Methodist Church in Folkston.
