    Alexis Mitchell and Julie Mikaelsen each posted 15 kills, and Wisconsin overcame a four-point deficit in the fifth set to earn a 3-2 (19-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12) volleyball victory over
Georgia Southern at the SpringHill Suites Eagle Invitational in Hanner Fieldhouse Friday night.
    Trailing 10-6, the badgers scored five straight points with the aid of a kill from Mitchell and two from Mikaelsen. Then the duo got a block to give the Badgers an 11-10 advantage.
    Mitchell was in on three more bocks to finish the set.
    The Eagles (7-5) finish out the tournament with a pair of games today.

BA beats EBA
    Bulloch Academy whipped Edmund Burke Academy 6-2 in a GISA Region 4-AAA softball action Thursday.
Page Spence led the Lady Gator offense, going 3-for-4.Madelyn Vickery got the win.
    Bulloch (10-7 overall and 4-2 in region play) travels to Macon today for a doubleheader with Class AAA’s top-ranked softball team, the Tattnall Square Academy Lady Trojans.  

Fumbles doom SC against AAA power
    SYLVANIA — The Screven County Gamecocks led Class AAA power Appling County 28-24 at the end of the third quarter, but turnovers doomed the Gamecocks, and Appling  scored three late touchdowns to seal a 45-34 win Friday in Screven's home opener.
    The Gamecocks (2-1) got hige games from Jeremy Johnson (24 carries, 167 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Josh Kierson (9-106, 2 TDs).
    Quarterback Aikeen Mingle passed for 103 yards and added 41 rushing.
    With SCHS trailing 24-14 in the third quarter, Johnson scored from seven yards out and rushed for a two-point conversion to cut the ACHS lead to 24-22, and Johnson scored again from 22 yards out to give the Gamecocks a 28-24 lead after three quarters.
    The teams combined for 42 first downs and 620 rushing yards in the back-and-forth affair.

Eagles draw with CSU
    NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Despite holding a 23-7 advantage in shots and a 15-6 lead in shots on goal, Georgia Southern Women’s Soccer could score just once in a 1-1 draw against Charleston Southern on Friday afternoon.
    The draw is the third of the year for Georgia Southern who opens conference play next weekend with a 4-1-3 record outside of league play.

Georgia State blanks GSU, 3-0
    ATLANTA — Georgia Southern Men’s Soccer fell 3-0 to Georgia State on Friday afternoon at the Georgia State Sports Complex. The match opened a seven-game road swing for the Eagles who travel to
Wake Forest on Tuesday evening.
    Georgia State got off to an early 2-0 lead with back-to-back goals by William Mellors-Blair.     The Panthers scored a third goal in the 31st minute from Peter Vania to go 3-0 up on the Eagles with just under an hour left to play.
