After completing their second series victory over the top team in the Southern Conference standings on Sunday, the Georgia Southern Baseball team hits the road for seven games starting with a mid-week game against #4 Florida. The Eagles return to the site of their 2011 upset over the top-ranked Gators on Tuesday and first pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Georgia Southern (22-16, 10-8) has already surpassed their win total from March with 9 victories this month but will be on the road for the second half of the month. A pair of unusual faces helped the Eagles combine for 20 runs and 26 hits in the two wins of the Appalachian State series.

Hunter Thomas led an offensive explosion on Saturday night with four hits, three runs and three RBIs and finished the series with a .500 average. Starting in all three games at third base, Brent Pugh made an immediate impact with runs in the first two games and tallied his first RBI since May 21, 2011 on Sunday.

Florida (28-8, 9-6) is coming off a series victory over Tennessee and a mid-week victory over #1 Florida State. The Gators are hitting .292 as a squad and are led by Mike Zunino's .338 batting average. Zunino leads the SEC in both home runs with 10 and RBIs with 39. Three other players are hitting over .300 including Preston Tucker who has 9 long balls and 9 doubles on the year.

The Gator's pitching staff ranks fourth in the league with a 3.10 ERA and is holding opposing hitters to a .249 batting average. Brian Johnson is the ace of the staff and holds a 5-1 record with a 3.88 ERA in 10 starts. The closer Austin Maddox is 2-2 with 10 saves and 1.80 ERA in 35 innings this season.

A year ago Georgia Southern shut out #1 Florida in a 7-0 mid-week victory, just their third win in 12 tries, behind great pitching. Chris Beck started the game with two scoreless innings and was followed up by three more scoreless frames from Josh Adams. Matt Murray closed out the final four innings without allowing a hit and allowed just one batter to reach base on a hit by pitch.
