Local Roundup: Meet the Eagles set for Saturday

    Georgia Southern plays host to its annual “Meet The Eagles” day on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Paulson Stadium.         The event starts at 4 p.m. and will be the first opportunity for fans to interact with Georgia Southern student-athletes.
    Coaches and student-athletes from the Georgia Southern football, volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, cross-country, track and field and swimming and diving teams will be on hand to sign autographs.
    It will also see the debut of the 2011 fall sports schedule posters.
    The event is open to the public and free of charge.
    The Georgia Southern Athletic Ticket office will have a table set up selling season tickets as well as individual game tickets for the Eagles' season opener at Samford on Sept. 3.
    Tickets for the game in Birmingham, Ala. are $15 and a processing charge of $2.50 will be applied to each ticket purchased.

2011 GSU radio network announced
    The Georgia Southern Radio Network has announced its 2011 radio affiliates for GSU football.
    Returning for his sixth season as the "Voice of the Eagles" is Chris Blair. He will be joined in the commentary booth by former Eagle Terry Harvin, and Ryan Chambers will report from the sidelines.
    In addition to game broadcasts, the network will broadcast Inside Georgia Southern Football with coach Jeff Monken across the state on all 13 network affiliates.
    The weekly show, which airs every Monday at 7 p.m., allows fans to call in, e-mail or tweet questions for Monken.
