ELON, N.C. (Georgia Southern AMR) — With the Georgia Southern Lady Eagles leading by one point, Aiesha Harper drove nearly the length of the court in final seconds for the Elon Phoenix and made a layup for a 61-60 victory in a Southern Conference women's basketball game Friday night.
"It was just a mental breakdown,” GSU head coach Rusty Cram said. “We where supposed to keep everybody in front of us and not let anybody get behind us."
Meredyth Frye gave GSU a one-point advantage on a pair of free throws with 9 seconds remaining.
Frye and MiMi DuBose scored 14 points apiece to lead GSU (5-11, 1-6), which went 19-of-25 shooting from the foul line.
Ali Ford led Elon (7-9, 3-4) with 15 points.
The Lady Eagles will play at 2 p.m. today at UNC Greensboro.
