Lady Eagles look for 2nd straight win tonight at home

    Georgia Southern’s women will be favored to get their first two-game winning streak of the season when they meet Southern Wesleyan at 7 tonight at Hanner Fieldhouse.
    The Lady Eagles (3-8) opened a five-game home stand with a 52-46 win over Jacksonville on Dec. 21 to snap a four-game losing streak. The NAIA Wildcats (4-8) are coming off a 79-59 win over William Carey to end a four-game losing streak.
    Facts and Figures: The Lady Eagles have played a rugged schedule facing teams from seven different conferences. Six of the eight losses have been by double digits. GSU has been outscored, 363-261, in the first half.
    Players to Watch: GSU — 5-10 G Meredith Frye, 9.9 ppg., 4.7 rpg; 5-9 G MiMi DuBose, 8.5 ppg.; 5-8 G Janay Wilson, 6.2 ppg. SWU — 5-5 G Kiasiah Ham; 5-3 G Whitley Smith; 6-0 F Ashley Cooper.
    Notable: Senior guard Samantha Williams gave GSU a big lift as she made the most of her second start by scoring 18 points in the win over Jacksonville.  Williams upped her average from 4.3 to 5.5 ppg.
