Georgia Southern basketball player Eric Ferguson has been suspended from the team indefinitely following  a June 26 arrest.
    Ferguson, a senior forward, was arrested along with roommate and former GSU point guard Brian Holmes, on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II drug, possession of a schedule III drug, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession/use of a drug-related object.
    Georgia Southern athletic director Tom Kleinlein said Ferguson will be suspended until "completion of the legal process."
    Ferguson, who is still recovering from a 2013 knee injury, is permitted to use GSU training facilities in conjunction with his rehabilitation, Kleinlein said.
    He is not permitted use of GSU facilities for basketball training, and will not attend team practices or meetings.
    Ferguson was expected to be a key contributor during the 2014-15 season, which will be the Eagles' first as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Ferguson, 24, did not play due to the injury during any of the 2013-14 season, the Eagles' last in the Southern Conference.
