A Statesboro man was killed Saturday morning in a single-car crash on Jones Mill Road near Lester Road.

Georgia State Patrol Post 56 communications secretary Ginger Robbins said troopers were called to the scene around 6 a.m. Saturday, where they found Christopher Scott, 34, of West Inman Street, deceased at the scene.

According to preliminary reports, it seems Scott was traveling west on Jones Mill Road when he left the roadway as he negotiated a curve.

He traveled over 100 feet, striking a tree, and then another 23 feet until his 2008 Chevrolet Impala came to a rest, Robbins said.

The accident remains under investigation.
