Seven arrested in Campus Crossings drug raid
Bust was in response to complaints

During a drug investigation last week, Statesboro police arrested seven on marijuana and gun charges after having to use a Taser to subdue a fleeing suspect.


Statesboro police detectives and officers responded to drug complaints at a Campus Crossings apartment April 13 and Rodney Moye Jr., 26, of Phillip Street in Keyville, fled, said Statesboro Police Sgt. Jake Saxon.


After a short chase, he was subdued by an officer using a Taser.


Police secured a search warrant for the apartment and found a quantity of marijuana and a stolen gun, he said.


Moye was charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana; sale, purchase, distribution or manufacture of marijuana; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; theft by receiving stolen property; obstruction; and parole violation.


Six others were also charged:
Heather Reid Etheridge, 24, of Evergreen Drive; Jasmine Lamarshae Petty, 22, of Knight Drive; Kenyatta Cortzes Shields, 22, of Hawthorne Road; Gregory Deion Wright, 26, of Lakecrest Drive, Fayetteville; Briyanna Nicole Culbreath, 23, of Mercer Avenue in Atlanta; and Cataka Menena Petty, 40, of Knight Drive.


All were charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana; sale, purchase, distribution or manufacture of marijuana; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and theft by receiving stolen property.


Each was arrested and taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they faced further court action, according to jail records.
