A man spun his tires in a stranger’s yard, threatened the property owner in a drunken rage, and left to crash his vehicle into a tree, according to Bulloch County Sheriff’s reports.
David Sikes, 50, Deloach Church Road, Claxton, then walked away from the scene, only to be stopped by a deputy who was forced to use a Taser to subdue him, reports stated.
Bulloch County Sherriff’s Deputy Reynaldo Rodriguez responded around 8:40 p.m. Saturday to a West Rushing Road residence, where a man told him Sikes, whom he did not know,  was “spinning his tires” in his yard.
The complainant said he confronted Sikes about being on his property, when Sikes “exited his vehicle in a drunken rage and began to curse,” Rodriguez reported.  Then he began “digging in his tool box,” but left when the complainant called 911. As he left, Sikes continued “spinning his wheels” on the roadway.
Rodriguez spotted Sikes’ green pickup truck in a ditch on West Rushing Road near Ibo Anderson Road, and had “clearly crashed into a tree.”  Sikes was not at the scene, he said in his report.  A short distance away he found Sikes, whom he said was “clearly intoxicated.”
Rodriguez questioned Sikes about whether it was his vehicle in the ditch and where he was headed, according to reports. Sikes said  the truck was indeed his and he was going to his girlfriend’s house, Rodriguez said.
Sikes began walking toward the deputy with his hand in his pocket, and refused to comply when Rodriguez ordered him to remove his hands from his pockets. He “made an aggressive move” toward Rodriguez, who deployed his M26 Taser to “stop his advancement,” he said in reports.
After being Tasered, Sikes offered no further opposition and Rodriguez transported him to the complainants house for positive identification, then to the Bulloch County Jail.
Sikes was charged with public intoxication, obstruction, criminal trespass, DUI (he refused to take a sobriety test), defective equipment,  and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
