▲ OLD DUBLIN ROAD — Deputies responded to a domestic dispute report.

▲ HIGHWAY 301 NORTH — Someone reported a burglary.

▲ SCOTTS CREEK DRIVE — A person reported being victim of financial transaction card fraud.

▲ JOE’S PLACE/FIRETOWER ROAD — Deputies responded to a report of battery.

▲ HIGHWAY 129 — Someone reported a theft.

▲ LITTLE STREET — Deputies investigated a reported theft.

Statesboro Fire Department

▲ During the week of Sept. 16-21, firefighters responded to 25 calls, including the following:  four structure fires (outside structure fire on Hendrix Circle; residential kitchen fire on Lanier Drive; residential kitchen fire at University Place: residential structure fire/agency assist with Bulloch Fire, Lakeside Drive.

▲ Also, one vehicle fire, one smoke scare, one miscellaneous or false alarm; three “show and tell” events, one station tour, and a presence at the Brooklet Peanut Festival parade, GSU Local Heroes Night, and Chik-Fil-A “Touch a Truck” event.

▲ Between Sept. 20-27, firefighters responded to the following calls:

▲ Portal — two grass/woods fires, one structure fire.

▲ Register —. Assisted Statesboro Fire with five structure fires

▲ Bay District — three brush/grass fires.

▲ Last week, officers issued 26 speeding citations, one citation for expired tag, and one citation for use of wireless device while driving.

▲ Last week, officers issued four speeding citations.

➤ Portal Police Department

▲ For the week of Sept. 21-27, Portal Police Officers responded to 15 general calls for service, issued eight traffic citations and 11 warnings, performed several business checks and school safety checks.

▲ CENTRAL AVENUE — Police responded to a call involving theft, speeding and driving without a valid license.

▲ BOSTON STREET — Someone reported a dog bite.

▲ WEST LEE STREET — Someone reported a theft of items as well as theft of a motor vehicle.

▲ SOUTH LEWIS STREET — Officers responded to a location near Jay’s Truck Stop and Burger King for a report of harassment.

▲ GIGGLES AND WIGGLES DAYCARE — Someone reported a criminal trespass incident.

▲ SOUTH BROAD STREET — Officers investigated a reported burglary and forgery.

▲ NORTH TRAPNELL STREET — Someone reported a case of simple battery.

▲ ELLIS STREET — Police responded to a simple battery complaint.

▲ OAK TREE EXPRESS — Someone reported a criminal trespass incident.

▲ PARKERS/SOUTHWEST BROAD STREET — A man left his wallet and another man was caught on video taking the wallet.

▲ PARKER’S /SOUTH LEWIS STREET — Someone reported a shoplifting.

▲ EAST LILLIAN STREET — Someone reported a battery incident.

▲ JAY’S TRUCK STOP — Police responded to a criminal trespass complaint.

▲ SOUTH TRAPNELL STREET — Officers responded to a call concerning sale of cocaine battery and crossing guard lines with contraband. The call stemmed from a fight between two men and one was arrested.

▲ COOL SPRINGS CHURCH ROAD —On two occasions, someone reported a case of criminal trespass.

▲ EDENFIELD ROAD —Deputies responded to a reported theft.

▲ BLITCH CIRCLE — Someone reported a violation of the animal control ordinance.

▲ HIGHWAY 46 — Someone reported a case of criminal trespass.

▲ Deputies also investigated reports of first-degree forgery.

▲ Animals received from rural areas — 12 adult dogs, 10 puppies, three adult cats, four kittens.

▲ Animals received from City of Statesboro — one adult dog.

▲ Adopted from shelter — eight adult dogs, one adult cat and four kittens.

▲ Taken by rescue organizations — four adult dogs and 14 puppies. 

▲ Reclaimed by owners — two adult dogs.

▲ Died at shelter — no animals.
