Man dies, another is critical after motorcycle crash
GSP accident

A Guyton man was killed Wednesday morning in a motorcycle crash. Another man remains in critical condition after both motorcycles collided, according to Georgia State Patrol reports.

Around 6:21 a.m. Wednesday, Caleb Wayne Hazzard, 21, of Beaver Road in Guyton, was traveling south on Georgia Highway 67 near mile marker 12 when he tried to pass a car, GSP Post 45 Trooper 1st Class Carl Hutchison said.

Hazzard's motorcycle met another motorcycle driven by Merritt Larry Chambers, 51, of Nesmith Proctor Road in Brooklet. Chambers was severely injured and flown to a hospital in Augusta, Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch said.

Hazzard was transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where a doctor pronounced him dead, Futch said.

Preliminary reports by GSP Trooper 1st Class Jamie Holloway stated that Hazzard was driving in a "reckless, careless manner," Hutchinson said.
