Statesboro has its own nationally crowned beauty queen.
Angelique Harville, 26, was crowned Mrs. United Nation US 2007. She represented the State of Georgia at the national pageant held in Savannah, GA on August 15th. The Mrs. United Nation pageant is for married women 21 – 49 who have been married at least a year.
“It’s a service based organization where the queens are required to do their community service,” Harville said. “And big part of the selection process was based upon our current level of community service.”
Angelique has lived in Bulloch county since she was 10, having attended Southeast Bulloch High School and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor degree in Child and Family Development. She and her husband own and operate a local graphic design business.
While she has a passion for encouraging healthy development of children, she remains devoted to her goal of encouraging community involvement in people of all ages. She also feels inspired to participate in community service projects and enjoys speaking publicly about the great benefits of simple acts of kindness.
Harville said that a big part of being queen is traveling around and making personal appearances to promote her platform.
“I was at the Ducks for Diabetes last week and will be at the Bulloch Pediatric Center ribbon cutting Thursday,” said Harville. "I have something almost everyday."
Kidsville News' own mascot, Truman the Dragon, will also be making an appearance. Kidsville is a publication of the Statesboro Herald.
The United Nation Pageant was founded in 1996 and was created a competition where “real women” are judged on their inner beauty above everything else. The pageant is a branch of the united Nation Charity Corporation and seeks women who have exceptional inner qualities, personal achievement, a commitment to community service as well as physical fitness.
