A Washington, Ga. man is behind bars at the Bulloch County Jail following his arrest Tuesday on charges of sexual battery and abuse, neglect or exploitation of elderly or disabled persons, according to Bulloch County Sheriff's reports.
Investigator Jared Akins said Dondi Johnson, 44, Andrew Drive, Washington, Ga., inappropriately touched a 19-year-old female who is mentally challenged.
The girl, who was being transported to a medical appointment by Logisticare transportation services, which Akins said is not based in the Statesboro area, told investigators Johnson fondled her breasts and other areas.
Johnson was not the driver of the transport vehicle, but was riding along with the driver, who was not identified and not charged, he said.
The report was initially made  through the Statesboro Police Department and transferred to  the Bulloch County Sheriff's Department, he said.
The victim, whose mental abilities Akins said were comparable to someone several years younger than she, told investigators details of the incident. After being questioned several times, her story remained consistent and considering other evidence and statements, " her story was very credible," he said.
Johnson was arrested on the above listed charges. Sexual battery is a misdemeanor but the charge of neglect or exploitation of elderly or disabled persons is a felony, Akins said.
Johnson is being held at the Bulloch County Jail awaiting bond, he said Thursday.
