A witness to a burglary Monday at Park Place called police to report the incident, and  two hours later, the victim called police to tell them he located the stolen items — as well as several juveniles who had the loot in their possession.
A witness called Statesboro Police around  10:15  p.m. Monday to report a suspected burglary in progress at Park Place Apartments, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.  Officers arrived, found no one, and contacted the apartment owner.
The victim met with police and said someone had broken in while they were gone, taking "several electronics, clothing and Christmas presents," he said.
Det. Keith Holloway responded to the scene as well and began an investigation. However, the victim didn't waste any  time in starting an investigation of his own, York said.
Around midnight Tuesday, the victim called police and said he "found some of his property a few buildings down from his," he said. Then the victim encountered several juveniles he suspected were responsible for the burglary.
Holloway and Statesboro Police Officer Jeff Thompson went back to the apartment complex and met with the victim and four male juveniles. Then, they searched an apartment where two juveniles live and found "clothing, electronics and the Christmas gifts that were stolen in the burglary," York said.
Six juveniles were arrested, charged with burglary, he said. Additional arrests, as well as additional charges, may be pending. The case remains under investigation, he said.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Keith Holloway, with the Statesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (912) 764-1542," he said. "Information provided will be held in strict confidence."
