2 charged in alcohol, gun seizure

Two men charged with bootlegging are behind bars after Statesboro Police and state agents seized more than $4,000 worth of alcoholic beverages from a Denmark Street home Friday. Larry Charles McReynolds, 54, also known by the name “Alabama,” was charged with five counts of unlawful sale of alcohol, sale of alcohol within 100 yards of a church, keeping a disorderly house, transporting distilled spirits across state lines and violation of limitation of the quantity of distilled spirits, said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner. Another man arrested at the scene, Alonzo McReynolds, 24, was charged with theft by receiving stolen property (firearm) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
