Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert (Dale) Groover of Statesboro, Georgia, are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Christi Lynn Groover of San Francisco, California, to Shawn Matson of San Francisco, California. He is the son of Mr. Paul Matson of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Mrs. Lynda Vandel of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

       The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. John and Mrs. Evelyn Henry of Statesboro and the late Mr. Bruce and Mrs. Allene Groover of Statesboro. Christi is a 1999 honor graduate of Statesboro High School and a 2003 cum laude graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Education, and is an alumna of Alpha Delta Pi sorority at Samford University. Christi is currently a full-time student, pursuing Holistic Nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley, California.

       The groom-elect is a 1993 graduate of Dartmouth High School, Dartmouth, Massachusetts. In 1998, he completed a Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture from Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. In 2003, Shawn received a Master's of Art Education from the University of Mass.-Dart-mouth. He currently teaches art and design at the secondary level in Pleasanton, California.

       The wedding is planned for May 23, 2011, at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park, Berkeley, California.

       The couple will reside in San Francisco, California.
