Mr. and Mrs. James A. Champion of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Steven A. Cannon of Savannah announce the engagement of their daughter, Blair Elizabeth Cannon, to Rodney Justin Daves.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Lloyd M. Jones of Statesboro and the late Elizabeth “Betty” R. Jones and Mr. and Mrs. William H. Cannon of Yorktown, Va. She is a 1999 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and is a 2003 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she received a BA in History. She received a master of accounting in 2004 from UNC-Chapel Hill. Blair is an audit senior associate at the accounting firm of KPMG, LLP in Raleigh, N.C. She was also presented in the 1999 Shelby Junior League Debutante Ball.
The groom-elect is the son of Rachel Owens of Shelby, N.C., and the late Robert Owens and Jerry Daves of Bostic, N.C. He is the grandson of Paul Bowen of Shelby, N.C., and the late Irene Black and Homer Daves of Bostic, N.C., and the late Rachel Daves. Justin is a 1995 graduate of Crest High School and is a 2002 graduate of North Carolina State University, where he received a BS in computer science and a BA in History. He is associate director of information technology for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at N.C. State University in Raleigh, N.C.
A December 16, 2006, wedding is planned at Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain, N.C.
