Mary and Chester Williams celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Friday, November 17. The couple was married November 17, 1936, in Pembroke. After serving in World War II, Chester Williams returned to Statesboro. In the 40 years Mr. Williams was in the public school system, he was a school teacher, sports coach and principal. Mary Williams also was a school teacher. They are members of the First Baptist Church of Statesboro and have an adopted son, Roger.
