Local Roundup: SHS golf finishes 9th at state
Statesboro

DALTON — The Statesboro golf team wrapped up its best golf season in quite a while as the Blue Devils took home a ninth place finish at the Class AAAA tournament Monday at Dalton Country Club.
Statesboro’s combined score — the four lowest totals out of six golfers are counted — of 324 was a solid showing in the 15-team field, but Marist tore up the course en route to a 279 and the state championship. Richmond Academy, which won the Region 3-AAAA championship over South Effingham and Statesboro, came in second place.
The Devils have plenty to look forward to as the entire squad returns next season. That group will include rising junior Trevor Dailey, whose 79 was the lowest score posted by SHS in the state championship.
