DUBLIN - The Screven County Gamecocks improve to 7-0 on the season and 3-0 in 3-AA play after a 28-21 win over East Laurens.
The Falcons struck first but didn't hold the lead for long. Screven's Jeremy Hawkins returned the ensuing kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown, followed by the first of four successful extra-point attempts on the night by kicker Jacob Smith.
The Gamecocks added three more touchdowns on the night: Malik Prescott scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter, and Donta Wilburn had a 43-yard run and a 15-yard pass to Tyquan Johnson to find the end zone twice.
Wilburn had 10 rushes for 115 yards and went 6 for 11 passing for 83 yards on the night. Caleb Krulic also had a good night with 6 rushes for 63 yards.
Panthers fall to Savannah Country Day Hornets
SAVANNAH - Savannah Country Day quarterback Hunter Hatley threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two more during the Hornets' 38-13 win over Portal Friday night.
Fred Holloway scored Portal's first of two touchdowns on a 63-yard run, and kicker Jordan Aubrey's extra-point attempt was good.
Malik Williams scored the Jackets' final touchdown on a 26-yard run, followed by a blocked extra-point kick.
