BA wrestling honors former student
BAcolor

The Bulloch Academy wrestling program will honor a former student by renaming its Battle of the ‘Boro invitational tournament after him.
Luke Anderson was an extremely popular young man whose life was tragically cut short a little more than a year ago in an automobile accident six days before his 20th birthday. The devout Christian was a 2009 graduate of Portal High School, but he attended Bulloch Academy in the elementary and middle grades, and had many friends and relatives at the school.
Teams scheduled to compete Saturday in the Luke Anderson Memorial Wrestling Tournament include Mount de Sales and Windsor Academy from Macon, Tiftarea Academy from Chula, Robert Toombs Christian Academy from Lyons, Trinity Christian School from Dublin, David Emanuel Academy from Stillmore and host Bulloch Academy.
The two-mat tournament will include some of the elite wrestlers in the Georgia Independent School Association and feature six current state champions, three of whom are Gators; senior Codi Johnson and sophomores Mitchell Ball and Daniel Hendrix.
There are 14 different weight classes, beginning at 106 pounds and increasing incrementally to the 285-pound (heavyweight) division.
Admission is $5 per person. The first match is scheduled for 9 a.m. Concessions will be available during the day-long event.
