Athlete of the Week: Win a winner for Bulloch Academy

Down to a do-or-die situation, Bulloch Academy handed the ball to Win Lee.

Seven innings later, Lee handed it back – having quieted the bats of Heritage Christian for a 9-2 Gator victory in the decisive game three of the teams’ first round series in the GISA state playoffs.

“I was excited for the opportunity,” said Lee. “I knew the team needed me, so I went out there and just tried to do my best.”

His best was more than enough as the BA offense handed him an early lead, and the junior hurler made sure to make the advantage stand up.

In all, Lee scattered six Lion hits over his seven innings of work, striking out five along the way.

“I was just going after hitters,” said Lee. “I wasn’t thinking about strikeouts or anything special. Our defense was playing great behind me, so I just kept throwing it in there and letting them take care of it.”

Lee also had a hand in getting the Gators to the final game as his solo blast in the first inning of Game two keyed a 5-2 win.

Bulloch now advances to the Elite Eight, where it will take on No. 1 seed Tiftarea in Chula. Game one will be played Friday evening. Game two and – if necessary – Game three will be played Saturday afternoon.
