WZAT to join GSU network

      Georgia Southern Athletics added ESPN 102.1 WZAT in Savannah to its list of football affiliates for the Georgia Southern Radio Network for 2011-2012 announced Thursday. WZAT is one of the most powerful FM stations in Georgia, and will provide the Eagle Football program with coverage in the Savannah/Hilton Head market and into both Florida and South Carolina.

      "We are thrilled to be a part of the Georgia Southern family," said Seth Harp, WZAT program director. "Coach Jeff Monken and the Eagles have proven themselves as one of the preeminent FCS programs in the country. This is a perfect fit for ESPN 102.1."

      WZAT is scheduled to air all Georgia Southern Football games and "Inside Georgia Southern Football" with Coach Jeff Monken on Monday nights. Owned by Cumulus Media, Inc., WZAT is a 100,000-watt station featuring the ESPN lineup of Mike and Mike, Colin Cowherd, Scott Van Pelt, with the locally produced "Harp on Sports" with Seth Harp weekdays during drive time, 3-6 p.m. The station carries Atlanta Braves broadcasts and is under also contract as a 2011 affiliate for the Atlanta Falcons.

      A complete football affiliate list for the Georgia Southern Radio Network will be released later this month.
