WBMZ set to be flagship network

Georgia Southern Athletics announced today, July 5th, that WBMZ 103.7 The Boomer will serve as the flagship station for the Georgia Southern Radio Network for the upcoming 2011-2012 year. WBMZ 103.7 The Boomer is owned and operated by Radio Metter, Inc., and will start by airing the preseason edition of "Inside Georgia Southern Football" with Coach Jeff Monken in late August. The game day football broadcasts begin on Saturday, September 3rd, with the Eagles’ season opener at Samford.

Serving several counties in the Magnolia Midlands area of the state, WBMZ will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first broadcast in August 2011. The station footprint encompasses Statesboro, Metter and Swainsboro as well as Bryan, Emmanuel, Evans, Jenkins, Screven, Tattnall, Toombs and Truetlen Counties.

WBMZ 103.7 The Boomer will also broadcast the games for both the Eagle Men’s Basketball and Lady Eagles Women’s Basketball teams as well as the Georgia Southern Baseball team. Weekly coaches’ shows for Coach Monken, Coach Young and Coach Cram will also air on the flagship station.
