MACON — Georgia Southern freshman Anna Claire Knight hit a baseline jumper with 1 second left to give the Lady Eagles a 57-55 win over Mercer in Thursday night's women's basketball game at the University Center.
Georgia Southern improved to 1-2, while Mercer remained winless at 0-3.
Mercer freshman Alicia Williams drove right and hit a pull-up jumper from 10 feet out with 8 seconds left to tie the game at 55.
Following a timeout, GSU inbounded the ball and Meredyth Frye went the distance of the court and dished to Knight, who converted the game-winning shot.
Mercer led by as many as 13 points in the first half before entering halftime with a 33-23 lead.
Frye finished with a game-high 17 points.
