Game 2 postponed, continues today

The Citadel took a comfortable lead for the second-straight game, but leading 7-2 with Georgia Southern batting in the eighth, weather stalled the action.

The Bulldogs got things done with the long ball, hitting two solo homers in the second (Bryan Altman and Justin Mackert) and one in the fifth (Grant Richards). Altman hit his second home run of the game – a two-run shot in the seventh.

Matt Simonelli had an RBI double in the third and an RBI single in the seventh to go ahead 7-1.

Georgia Southern got one in the second on a sacrifice fly by Michael Burruss and another in the seventh with a Burruss RBI single that cut it to 7-2.

The game was called on account of lightning 9:21 p.m. with the Eagles batting with one out in the eighth.

The last two innings will be played before first pitch of today’s 2:30 p.m. matchup.
