Mrs. LaWanda Burnsed Dickerson
BULLOCH COUNTY -- Mrs. LaWanda Burnsed Dickerson, age 77, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro.
    The Bryan County native was born to Elarbee Burnsed and Edwina Gibson Burnsed Key.
    She resided in Pembroke, Georgia, for 29 years before moving to Bulloch County.
    LaWanda worked for the Bryan County Board of Education as a parapro and a school bus driver and later worked for the Bulloch County Board of Education as a substitute teacher, retiring after 20 years of service as a school bus driver.
    She was a member of the Lawrence Baptist Church.
    In addition to her parents, LaWanda was preceded in death by her husband, Wayron R. Dickerson Jr.; a grandson, Payton Gibson Salzman; and a sister, Cherry Burnsed Smith.
    Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Charlie Salzman of Brooklet; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Cindy Dickerson of Acworth; a son, Wayron R. Dickerson III of Bulloch County; five grandchildren, Sunny Salzman Clough (Jake), Colton Dickerson, Kayleigh Dickerson, Wayron R. Dickerson IV, Kaleb Dickerson; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Joyce Burnsed Smith; and a sister-in-law, Angelan Dickerson Carpenter, both of Bulloch County.
    The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro, Georgia.
    The funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Albert Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers will be Steve Smith, Eddie Smith, Chris Smith, Terry Smith, Doug Deloach, Lee McCoy and Bruce Simons.
