Mrs. Dorothy Seich Henry, age 84, passed away on Friday, December 7th, 2018, at Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro.
    Mrs. Dorothy was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, on May 2nd, 1934. She attended school in Iselin, Pa., through eighth grade and graduated from Elders Ridge High School in 1952.
    She moved to Pittsburg, where she worked for Bell Telephone Company and met her future husband, Jack Henry. They married on December 6th, 1953, and later moved to his hometown, Swainsboro, Ga., where she became a dental hygienist.
    In 1959, they moved to Statesboro and she worked for Dr. Tebeau in Sylvania for two years and then joined the staff of Dr. LT “Speed” Thompson in Statesboro, where she worked for 34 years before retiring.
    In past years, she was an active member of the Statesboro Jaycettes, the Mattie Lively PTA and bridge and garden clubs. She was a 58-year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of First Baptist Church Statesboro for 59 years, where she was a charter member of the Alathian Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Southern Boosters for 35 years, an avid Georgia Southern Eagle fan and loved gardening.
    She enjoyed traveling and had visited 49 states across the country as well as Mexico, five Canadian provinces and Israel.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Blanche Seich; a son, J. Richard Henry Jr.; a brother, Paul Seich; and sisters, Mark Burke and Helen Shutka.
    She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack Richard Henry Sr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Leigh and Jamey Manley of Young Harris, Ga.; a daughter-in-law, Jane Fouts Henry of Savannah, Ga.; four grandchildren, Stephen Coleman Manley (Amy) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Jack Richard Henry III (JR) of Atlanta, Jared Coleman Henry and Jordan Elizabeth Henry of Savannah; two great-grandsons, Coleman and Wyatt Manley; and a great-granddaughter, Brianna Manley.
    The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
    The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Dr. John Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
    Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alathian Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and members of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
    The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro GA 30459; the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458; or to the J. Richard Henry Jr. Scholarship Fund at Georgia Southern University.
