PORTAL, Ga. -- Mrs. Carolene Lee Johnson, age 82, died on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility.
    The Gastonia, N.C., native moved along with her husband, who was in the United States Army, to many different areas of the country.
    She was retired from Bankers Trust in Augusta.
    She was a member of the Aaron Worship Center and was the longest serving temporary choir leader.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Eula Mae Lee; her siblings, Josephine Glisson, Anna Laura Collins, Bobbie Jean Smith and Fred Lee.
    Surviving is her husband of 62 years, Ed Johnson of Portal; two sons, Lance (Nancy) Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga.; and Raja Lee (Janis) Johnson of Augusta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Brandi Johnson, Sonja Johnson Eller, Tiffany (Matthew) Durden, Zachary (Aubrey) Johnson, Joaquin Fuentes, Justin Fuentes and Tabatha Fuentes; eight great-grandchildren, Luna Ski Garcia, Armoni McCoy, Jaiden London, Alexandria Maria Durden, Ethan James Eller Jr., Travis Zane Michael Eller, Destiny Blackford and Americus Fitch; her siblings, Donald (Margie) Lee, Otis Lee, Danny (Elaine) Lee, Mona Many, Jean (Ken) Nichols, Cathy (Rick) Miller and Donna (Steve) Cole.
    A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
