Marilyn Leah Rosenberg
SANDY SPRINGS -- Marilyn Leah Rosenberg passed away on December 17, 2018, at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., with her husband and son by her side.
On December 22, 1944, Marilyn was born to Rueben and Esther Ida (Bergman) Rosenberg in Statesboro, Ga., where she was raised. Marilyn's parents owned Rosenberg's Department Store in downtown Statesboro, where she learned the virtues of integrity and equality.
The family attended Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob in Savannah.
Originally graduating from Georgia State University with a bachelor's degree in urban studies, Marilyn later graduated with a degree in nursing and became a registered nurse. Countless mothers and their babies prospered under her devoted care at Georgia Baptist, Grady and Emory Crawford Long hospitals.
Marilyn co-founded the Lake Claire Community Land Trust, a community garden in Atlanta, and Amata Community in Atlanta. Through these organizations, she helped many individuals and left an enduring legacy.
Marilyn always wanted everyone to help thy neighbor and share resources to save the environment.
She will be remembered by loving friends and family as an outgoing person who made personal sacrifices for the greater good, never knew a stranger and was deeply involved in her community.
While living primarily in Atlanta, Marilyn also spent many wonderful years on Tybee Island, her childhood vacation home. She particularly enjoyed walks at sunset on the beach, picking citrus fruit and eating gourmet pizza at Huc-A-Poos.
Marilyn is survived by her loving husband and son, Norman and Noah Glassman; siblings, Bernice (Stan) Gedzelman, Sandra Rosenberg (Jerry Gringer), Jack (Ellen) Rosenberg and Barry (Barbara) Rosenberg; nieces, Elise (Jeff) Falk, Jamie Rosenberg, Esther Gringer and Rose (John) Hagan; nephews, Evan Gedzelman and Michael Rosenberg; great-nieces Alexia, Naomi and Charlotte Falk.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 20th, at 1:30 p.m. in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
    A reception will follow.
The family will also receive visitors from January 18th-22nd on Tybee Island.
A memorial service will be held in Atlanta, Ga., on February 17th from 2-5 p.m.
Her son, Noah, may be contacted at (404) 455-1260 for further details.
The family would like to thank everyone who knew and loved Marilyn for their support and kindness.
