Statesboro city council members, Mayor Joe Brannen and City Manager Frank Parker will gather at City Hall today for a regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m.
The routine meeting — in City Hall’s second floor council chambers — will feature councilmen reviewing a list of motions pertaining to general city business.
According to Parker, council will be presented agenda items to amend a pair of city policies, declare two roads be city owned and maintained, and begin the process of road and sewer repair along a particular Statesboro street.
Council will vote on a motion to amend the city’s municipal code — bringing it in line with Georgia policy — that allows municipal courts to punish violators of codes or ordinances with fines of up to $1,000 and a term of up to 12 months in a correctional facility, he said. Councilmen may also vote to extend an area eligible for the city’s Downtown Incentives Program for local businesses — the new downtown section would extend south to Tillman Park and include the midtown market area, said Parker.
Other motions include: resolutions to adopt Bonilane Drive and Abbey Road as public streets to be owned by Statesboro, and a motion to approve a contract for roadway and sanitary sewer improvements to a segment of Church Street adjacent to Luetta Moore Park.
According to the Council agenda, the meeting will be immediately followed by an executive session to discuss personnel matters.
