Two of three suspects in a Friday night armed robbery are in jail, and Statesboro police issued warrants for the third suspect.

Monday, police arrested Rodney Ahkeen Hawkins, 18, along with a 16-year-old male, in connection with the armed robbery of three victims around 11:25 p.m. Friday at The Hudson Apartments, said Madison Warren, Statesboro Police community information specialist.

Detectives are not yet releasing the identity of the third suspect, for whom warrants were issued, she said.

Hawkins and the other two suspects reportedly approached three men taking out garbage and held them at gunpoint, making them “empty their pockets,” she said. The suspects took wallets, cash, cell phones and other items before fleeing. The three suspects were wearing hoodies and bandannas over their faces, and at least one reportedly had a gun, she said.

Hawkins, of Institute Street, is charged with armed robbery, felony theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm or knife during commission of a felony.

He was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he awaits further court hearings.
