Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a welfare check arrested a man and woman they suspect were manufacturing methamphetamine.
Once they arrived at the Clevy Deloach Road location in Pembroke, where anonymous callers said a couple were experiencing domestic problems, deputies found Toby Cortez Hickman, 29, Clevy Deloach Road, and Lacie Renea Lanier, 33, Lanier Road, Pembroke, sitting in a car.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Hickman gave deputies a false name when they questioned him, and then fled on foot. However, deputies quickly apprehended him and learned his true identity, he said. “Lacie Lanier was (also) arrested at this point for lying to deputies about Hickman’s identity.”
When deputies searched the vehicle, they found “components commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine,” he said. “Both Hickman and Lanier were charged with criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine and obstruction of officers.”
Hickman also had active warrants for his arrest from Cobb County, Anderson said.
Both Lanier and Hickman were taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where they remained Wednesday evening without bond.
