A former Bulloch County teacher who was arrested on several charges regarding a sexual relationship with a student while she was a teacher at William James Middle School was indicted last week by the August term of the Bulloch County Grand Jury.
Amy Bass Jackson, 35, Pebblestone Court, was indicted on eight charges, according to a copy of the indictment provided by the Bulloch County Clerk of Courts. She was arrested July 27.
According to the indictment, Jackson was charged with child molestation stemming from a July 3 incident where she exposed her breasts to the 14-year-old William James Middle Scholl student. A similar incident also occurred July 10.
The indictment also charges her with aggravated child molestation for an act of oral sex in an encounter with the boy July 11.
On that date she also allowed the teen to fondle her breasts and she kissed and had sexual intercourse with him, according to the indictment. Those acts resulted in two charges of child molestation.
Having sexual intercourse with the victim also resulted in a charge of statutory rape.
Between July 3 and 11, Jackson “did knowingly persuade, induce and entice a minor … to engage in sexually explicit conduct” by asking him to send her sexually explicit pictures of himself, the indictment read. That act resulted in Jackson being charged with sexual exploitation of children.
By using a cell phone to exchange lewd pictures with the teen, Jackson violated the law and was charged with computer pornography and child exploitation, according to the indictment. She also furnished to the victim via text “narrative accounts of sexual excitement and sexual conduct which taken as a whole is harmful to minors,” the indictment stated. The charge is “unlawful disposition of material to minors.”
Jackson was arrested after Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators questioned her, the victim and witnesses, following a report by the child’s parents that they believed Jackson had a sexual relationship with their son.
Jackson resigned from the Bulloch County school system during the investigation. She taught language arts at William James Middle for three years, coming from the Evans County school system. Jackson remains in the Bulloch County Jail without bond. No bond hearing has been set, according to jail officials.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Investigator Bill Black headed the investigation.
