The identity of a man who was the target of a search Friday following a three-county chase and crash near Statesboro is yet unknown, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. Deputies took the female driver into custody, but the male passenger fled on foot after snatching a white backpack from the wrecked car. As he ran, he was talking on a cellphone, and Anderson said he believes the man called someone to pick him up and is no longer in the area.
