An accident Tuesday morning involving a Statesboro police officer is under investigation by Georgia State Patrol troopers. Reports were incomplete Tuesday evening, but preliminary reports state a Crown Victoria driven by Statesboro Police Officer Oscar Fernandez, age and address unlisted, pulled into the path of a Geo passenger car driven by Guillermina Baizabal, 49, Chances Mobile Home Park. Fernandez was driving north on U.S. Highway 301 North, while Baizabal was headed south.
